Visit The Milking Parlour and see their award-winning Christmas window

Tis the season to support local – The Milking Parlour‘s inspirational window wins the Christmas Window Competition

On Friday 18th December during Late Night Shopping The Milking Parlour, was crowned winner of the Christmas Window Competition. The cash prize of £125 was awarded to the shop by Allan Muirhead, the founder of Kirkby Lonsdale CIC, who surprised the unknowing winners over a Virtual Award Show on Facebook Live. This online event brought the national community together in celebration despite the weekend’s newest restrictions.

The decision was put to public vote and the people chose the Christmas window which told them to ‘keep your chin up  & keep going’ and ‘to keep positive & hold on for a brand new year ahead’ amongst Christmas trees, baubles and personalised illustrations of Kirkby Lonsdale iconic buildings.

The window was hand drawn by Sarah Beattie, co-owner of the Milking Parlour with husband Ed Beattie, over four days in a heartfelt effort to reflect Kirkby Lonsdale’s experiences of 2020 and the importance of sticking together, supporting one another and shopping local. They will be using their prize money to give back to the community by donating it to the refurbishment of the play park in Kirkby Lonsdale.

Sarah Beattie, Owner of The Milking Parlour and illustrator of their window said: “At The Milking Parlour we are so happy to have been recognised as the winner of the Christmas Window Competition. It is so heart-warming for us to see how the public are supporting shops this year especially during Late Night Shopping. And it’s beautiful to see that people feel the same way we do about supporting local businesses and keeping the spirit of Kirkby Lonsdale going despite everything we’ve all experienced this year.”
