The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is taking place this Summer, Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5thJune, and Kirkby Lonsdale will be Dancing Through The Decades in celebration of Her Majesty’s 70 year-long reign. Kirkby Lonsdale CIC are pleased to put on Dancing Through The Decades, an exciting weekend of dance performances, demos and workshops in celebration of Her Majesty and free for the community! Find out more about the Jubilee Dance Programme here.

Kids Programme
There is loads to do for Kids over the Platinum Jubilee weekend! From Games in the Park on Friday 3rd June to dance workshops and a Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Saturday 4th June – find out more here.
How Can You Get Involved?

Jubilee Flower Project
We want to decorate the Monument and TSB building with purple, white and yellow flowers for the Jubilee weekend and we need your help to do it! The Project will include family friendly flower growing and making workshops, in visual celebration of our community’s culture and heritage. Find out more and get involved here.

Dress your decade
Join in by dressing up in the fashions of your favourite decade! Whether it’s a 50’s poodle skirt, a 60s inspired shift dress, 70s flares, or even some 90s grunge just go for it! There’s no need to buy anything new simply: Re-use, Borrow and Recycle.

“Through The Arches” Window Competition
Chamber of Trade are running a best shop window competition: different decades will appear in the shop windows with an abundance of arches too. Get involved and vote for your favourite “Through The Arches” shop window!

Street parties
Organise your own street party during the Jubilee Weekend! Contact South Lakeland District Council at least three weeks in advance, or earlier for larger scale events. More information on the Street Party website.

Green Canopy Saplings
Rotary Club of Lunesdale take up the challenge of increasing the green canopy. The Rotary Club of Lunesdale will be enhancing the “Green Canopy” by giving away 100+ tree saplings to community groups to be planted throughout the Lune Valley.
