Lunesdale Bakery is at the very heart of the town, in more ways than one. With its cheerful green exterior you’ll find it on Main Street, and if you are out and about early you may be enticed in by the smell of fresh bread. The bakery has a tea room with one of the best fireside atmospheres in the town, if not this part of Cumbria.
It does a wide range of food – on a Sunday morning it’s worth popping in for full cooked brunch or a lighter snack like the wild boar sausage in a bun.
Owain and his team produce fresh sandwiches, artisan bread and cakes. You can also, depending on the season, by one of the speciality fruit loaves; a local favourite has been the springtime Hot Cross Loaf, closely followed by early summer cherry and almond loaf. Perfect toasted at home with a cup of tea -or one of their excellent takeaway coffees!
