Grasmere

Grasmere lies at the foot of spectacular fells and has its own lake. Here you can visit the grave of poet William Wordsworth, and take home the world-famous Grasmere gingerbread.

Alternatively, head for nearby Rydal Water and enjoy a short circular walk round this photogenic gem.
Grasmere has a good selection of shops with quality souvenirs on offer – works by local artist Heaton Cooper, the Rock Shop with its localised treasure hunt, chocolate, cowhides, sheepskins, books, crafts and antiques.
