This Sunday at 2pm we will be paying homage to the 200th anniversary of the five maids who died in a fire at the Rose & Crown (now the @royalhotel) in 1820.
The ceremony will be led by the vicar in the churchyard at the striking stone obelisk, which was dedicated to the maids, and accompanied by a series of readings along with a melancholic performance of In the Bleak Mid-winter.
