In 2020, four poets were commissioned to write about Kirkby Lonsdale’s most famous landmark — Ruskin’s View. Since then, access to the view has been made impossible by river erosion linked to climate change. We gather to celebrate the site’s legacy in poetry from the Victorian era to today. Donations welcome towards #SaveTheBrow.
In 1875 the writer John Ruskin wrote of the view “I do not know in all my country, still less in France or Italy, a place more naturally divine.” It also attracted the attention of painters such as Turner and poets like Wordsworth. This event will take place in the churchyard next to the Brow, where the view was previously visible…
