Tree of Life Ceramics
A Phoenix Rising community workshop programme with Green Close arts organisation from Melling.
The Tree of Life ceramics workshop is a Phoenix Rising event. Phoenix Rising is a new visual art and wellbeing programme of workshops that puts your health at the heart of living and working in our community. Make a space for your wellbeing needs, whilst learning, sharing your ideas and connecting with others on a programme of fun, creative activities led by experienced professional artists.
Tree of Life will be the first indoors workshop, starting with an introduction session for the three-week ceramics programme called Tree of Life, where you will learn how to make your own ceramic candlestick inspired by popular Mexican folk art. Finally lighting your candles in St Mary’s Church in a display of strength, beauty and growth, celebrating with the community as we rise out of Lockdown together.
The tree of life is a symbol of personal growth, strength and individual beauty, and in Mexico a form of traditional ceramic art. These workshops will introduce you to sharing your story through working with clay. Inspired by the brightly painted folk art of Mexico you will to create your very own tree of life in the form of a candlestick to display and take home. All materials provided. Please bring an apron or old shirt to wear over your clothes or be prepared to get a little mucky!
