Myths and Legends Mapmaking (Week 1)
A Phoenix Rising community workshop programme with Green Close arts organisation from Melling.
The Myths and Legends mapmaking workshop is a Phoenix Rising event. Phoenix Rising is a new visual art and wellbeing programme of workshops that puts your health at the heart of living and working in our community. Make a space for your wellbeing needs, whilst learning, sharing your ideas and connecting with others on a programme of fun, creative activities led by experienced professional artists.
Myths and Legends is a family friendly two-week online workshop starting on Sunday 2nd and finishing on Sunday 9th May, providing a gentle ease back into everyday life. The programme will run for two hours each week, led by artist illustrator Kremena Dimitrova, bringing Kirkby Lonsdale’s vivid and fascinating history to life through visual processes leading to a collaborative map. This is an exciting opportunity to learn something different and ignite your creative mind, whether for the first time in a while or for the first time ever.
Kremena Dimitrova is a London based illustrator, historian, lecturer and researcher who specialises in visual history. This 2 week family friendly workshops gives you the chance to experiment with photography and traditionally made textures, painted, drawn and printed backgrounds. It’s a chance to share local stories and put yourself and or your family on the map.
