This international women’s day we are taking the opportunity to recognise the outstanding work done by women around us.
The Kirkby Lonsdale & Lune Valley CIC prides itself on having three female board members: Sarah Ross, Karen Crutchley and Liz Saunders and a female Town Manager, Janet Nuttall, making the CIC’s senior management team 50% female. These women go above and beyond to provide an excellent service for the community on a daily basis so we are taking this day to recognise them for their strength, intelligence and determination.
However, it is also important to discuss the inequalities women face and the issues which International Women’s Day (IWD) is tackling. A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.
We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.
From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.
