Dancing through the Decades
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Kirkby Lonsdale
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is taking place this Summer, Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5thJune, and Kirkby Lonsdale will be Dancing Through The Decades in celebration of Her Majesty’s 70 year-long reign. Join in with music and dance to unite our community, jiving and boogieing with everyone in Kirkby Lonsdale!

Music in the Square
Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th June, All Around Town
There will be two stages of live music, the “Booths Stage” on Market Square and the “Busker’s Stage” in Jubilee Field. Everything from 50s rock n roll, blues, acapella, folk, Gaelic music, ceilidh bands, choral activities and buskers everywhere in town. All in all, a musical treat awaits!
Thursday 2nd June, The Playpark
Unite with Great Britain on Thursday 2nd June at 9:15pm as the Nation light their Beacons to the queen in thanks to her service for our country. The Kirkby Lonsdale Beacon Ceremony will be accompanied by local music and poetry performances, while Devil’s Bridge Snacks will serve food and drink.
Games In The Park
Friday 3rd June, The Playpark
Between dance workshops workshops and music we will be offering some traditional games for all the family to join in with. These will include: egg and spoon races, sack races, tin can ally, the ladder game, dressing up races plus more!
Saturday 4th June, St Mary’s Church
Have fun at this intergenerational Ceilidh, where families can dance together in celebration of the decades. There will be a live Ceilidh band and refreshments available.
Teddy Bear’s Picnic – Sponsored by Booths
Saturday 4th June, The Methodist Church and Gardens
On the Saturday 4th June there will be a Teddy Bears Picnic in Kirkby Lonsdale Methodist Church Hall & Garden aimed at families with toddlers. Enjoy toys, face painting, storytelling, and fun!
Sunday 5th June, Market Square
In case of inclement weather we shall ring somewhere under cover.
